SANTIAGO – In the center of Santiago an explosive has gone off, this morning at 11.45h. The explosive was hidden in a trash can at a bus stop, on the corner of Curicó with Vicuña Mackenna. Five people got injured, one woman had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Shortly after the explosion, that occurred in Santiago Centro on Friday morning, Carabineros arrived to shut down the streets and investigate the explosion. Later came the confirmation that the blast came from an explosive device hidden in a trash bin.
One woman got heavily injured but her condition is stable. Four others have sustained lesser injuries. Police is investigating at location any clues about the background of these attacks.
A 40-year-old woman was heavily injured due to the explosion. Carabineros confirm that the explosive was hidden in a trash can. The streets have been closed down on both sides.

Two hours after the first explosion, special forces of the Carabineros detonated, as precaution, a box found at a bus stop near the exit of the Bustamante Park Metro station that links to Bilbao Street.
People living or working in Santiago Centro should be aware that until the end of the night traffic will be diverted to give investigators all the room to search the crime scene.
