Relive Referendum Night on Plaza Italia in Ten Photos

Although enthusiastic and determined, the Chileans that voted on Sunday, 25 Oct., in the referendum on a new Constitution did so in a calm manner. Despite hot temperatures, long waiting lines and fear for coronavirus infections, people waited patiently for their turn to cast their vote. But when the night set in and it became clear the option Apruebo, for a new Constitution, had won nearly 80 percent of the votes, a massive feast erupted on Plaza Italia, also known as Plaza Dignidad, in Santiago. Chile Today´s photographers Nelson Quiroz and Alisha Lubben were present to give an impression in ten photos of an emotional, historic night.
